While attending Legend High School, Andrew performed as a featured soloist in both the Legend Jazz Band and Legend Titan Marching Band. As a junior he became the first student from Legend High School to perform in the Colorado All-State Jazz Band. In 2016, Andrew received a DownBeat Award for his performance in Eric Gunnison's combo as part of the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts.
Apart from his school ensembles, Andrew held the bari sax chair in the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra where he performed alongside Brad Goode, Greg Gisbert, Curtis Fox, and had the opportunity to mentor numerous high school big bands throughout Colorado.
Recently, Andrew performed at the Telluride Jazz Festival as part of the 2017 Telluride Jazz All Stars directed by Bob Montgomery, the Brevard Music Center under the direction of Michael Dease, and as part of the Jazz Aspen Snowmass directed by Christian McBride.
Andrew is currently in his Junior year as a Jazz Studies Major at the University of North Texas. While at North Texas, he has performed as part of the Four O'Clock and Two O'Clock Lab Bands as well as the UNT Chinese Ensemble. As part of these ensembles he has performed at many events including the Frisco Arts Walk, Lab Band Madness, and the Chinese New Year Festival in Dallas. Andrew is currently the baritone saxophonist for the seven time Grammy Award® nominated One O'Clock Lab Band directed by Alan Baylock.
Andrew is thrilled to be back home to clinic at the Legend Jazz Festival and hopes to inspire other young musicians to love music.
